The Decal Source was proud to play an important role in Super Bowl XLIX pre-game festivities. If you caught the Gridiron Challenge on NBC Sports Network, you saw a plethora of our work on national TV. The event first aired on Friday, January 30 at 10 p.m. ET, but several highlights were replayed during Sunday’s pre-game show. Presented by Toyota, the Gridiron Challenge paired NASCAR drivers with NFL legends and ensued a battle of on-track speed and throwing skills. The featured Toyota Racing vehicles – all 2015 Camrys – were outfitted with custom vehicle wraps by The Decal Source.
For the Gridiron Challenge event, Toyota Racing called on our team for vehicle wraps, graphics for football target boards, helmet designs, and more. No one could have been more excited than our Motorsports Account Executive Bryan Shoffner. In his own words, “After partnering with Toyota Racing for years, it was extremely exciting to help them prepare for something that would be part of the nation’s most talked-about sporting event.”
Filmed at Charlotte Motor Speedway, the Gridiron Challenge featured Toyota NASCAR drivers and famous cars such as Kyle Busch (#18 M&M car), Clint Bowyer (#15 5-Hour Energy car), Denny Hamlin (#11 FedEx car), Carl Edwards (#19 Arris car), Matt Kenseth (#20 Dollar General car) and Daniel Suarez (#18 Xfinity Arris car). Drivers were paired with former NFL greats including Rod Smith, Christian Okoye, Brian Mitchell, Willie Gault, and Doug Flutie. Hines Ward, Super Bowl XLIX pre-game analyst, also suited up to compete. Football and racing fans alike tuned in for hilarious and high-energy surprises, ultimately seeing Suarez and Gault win the competition.
It was extremely rewarding to outfit these cars with custom wraps for the Gridiron Challenge. To see our work on live TV was an added bonus. If you missed it, you can view photos on the Toyota Racing Facebook page.
