"It's like magic." That's how Tony Johnson describes it. "It doesn't matter if we're changing graphics on a car at the track or wrapping a fleet of vehicles, it's always awesome to see the transformation. I love it."

Tony is the founder and CEO of The Decal Source, a specialty graphics company located in McLeansville, NC. His interest in the industry was sparked in high school when he discovered a knack for graphic design and took a part-time job at a print shop. "We weren't doing any wide-format printing then," he said, "but I learned a lot about what it takes to get a print job through production."

With a few years of experience under his belt, Tony decided to try his hand at the business side of printing and bought a PIP franchise in Asheboro, NC. "It was a great experience. I learned a lot about how systems and processes can make or break a print shop," he said.

It was during this season that Tony was first exposed to wide-format printing. It didn't take long for Tony to figure out that he could combine his love of racing and his knowledge of printing. He shifted focus and started The Decal Source in 1998 with an emphasis on the motorsports industry. TDS quickly became the go-to company for "making it happen."

Tony has seen the industry shift from hand-painted letters to vinyl letters to full decal wraps. Over the years The Decal Source has grown from two employees to more than 50, running two shifts daily. TDS is the leading provider of vehicle wraps and graphics for the NASCAR industry and the Triad area of North Carolina.

"I love the work we do," Tony said, "but my favorite part of The Decal Source is seeing our team members grow professionally and personally."

Tony has three kids. He loves hanging out at the lake with them, fishing and playing golf.

Anton Justad

President

Anton Justad began his professional journey at The Decal Source in 2004.  While studying Business at UNCG he worked as an entry-level Production Associate on 1st and 2nd shift.  Working in the different areas of production from shipping, finishing, and eventually landing in the cutting department.  Eager to master the cutting software and hardware, he studied product manuals and help files.  It is there where he developed his first solution for TDS automating the print cut workflow through a custom-built registration positioning system.  Anton caught management’s attention when this new process increased accuracy and reduced the finishing labor required for jobs. 

Building upon his printing production experience Anton self-taught himself the graphics programs used to create decals and wraps.  When a position opened in the Art department he quickly applied and got the job.  With a deep understanding of graphic programs and the TDS production environment, he developed an automated file setup system using custom coded macros and scripts still used today.  Anton started to cultivate a positive culture within the art department that would soon spread to the rest of the organization.  The positive culture was one of excellence through continuous improvement, teamwork, and automation.

When the Operations Manager position became available Anton was selected to fill the role.  As operations manager he oversaw every department except Sales.  Now a graduate from the UNCG Bryan School of Business he was positioned to dig his heels in and focus on the organization’s operation efficiency.  No stranger to long hours and working to make it happen Anton continued to build winning teams and promoted streamlined processes in each department through lean principles and technology automation.  He pushed the organization to achieve many industry related certifications in the installation and production department positioning TDS for growth and success.

After 11 years with the company Anton was presented with a partnership opportunity.  Now as a partner in The Decal Source he continued his journey into a Vice President of Sales and Operations role.  Anton redefined the vision for the Sales department using his previous experience and success as a template. Following this he led TDS through double digit year-over-year growth and an acquisition of a local company’s Wide Format Division.  This propelled TDS into a regional and national print powerhouse.

Now Anton is the President of The Decal Source. His focus remains true to the culture and business. He continues to cultivate the company’s skills and develop the organization’s core competencies.  His emphasis on continued training and development of each department’s team will ensure TDS remains a leader in the industry.    “I enjoy being hands on and hearing firsthand from employees and customers about ways to improve our products and services.”

Janine Keobouala has been a proud member of the Decal Source team since November 2014. She brings with her over eleven (11) years’ experience in project management and customer service in the sign industry and has extensive experience working with a diverse client and subcontractor base nationwide. As Commercial Account Coordinator she acts as a liaison between customers and TDS’s production and installation departments making sure the quality product and service exceed customer expectations. She believes “To give real service you must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money, and that is sincerity and integrity.” - Douglas Adams

Brian Nelson

Motorsports Account Manager

Brian Nelson came to work for TDS at the beginning of 2015. He has been in the graphic and sign industry for over 15 years as a territory sales representative for both manufacturing and distribution companies of graphics materials. This was not his first time dealing with TDS, as he was a past vendor of digital media products for them. Working with high profile clients in the motorsports industry is something he has been interested in doing since his early days of watching Nascar with his family. When he is not working, you might find Brian on one of the many golf courses around the area or enjoying time with his wife and two daughters. One of his favorite quotes comes from Benjamin Franklin, "Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning.”

Kyle Gilyard started his career at The Decal Source in the summer of 2017. Originally brought on as an installer, it was a dream come true to be able to install the liveries of the stars of NASCAR. After a year long stint in install department, he has transitioned to lead the commercial sales team. He brings with him five years of experience in the vinyl graphics industry, along with a degree in graphic design. Kyle loves the aspect of problem solving, and finding solutions to each customers unique needs.

Tim Cecil came to TDS in 2010, bringing over two decades of experience producing and installing vinyl graphics with him. He has managed the Installation and Production Departments as well as being a member of TDS's Leadership Management Team. While Tim's favorite project at TDS was installing track wall graphics at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, color profiling is his passion. Tim enjoys playing piano and tending his 46 acre farm where he raises guinea fowl, pygmy goats, and Toy Poodles in his free time.

Randy Brown joined The Decal Source in October of 2000. He is currently the Printing Department Manager and handles purchasing and small format thermal printing. Prior to joining The Decal Source, Randy worked in the screen-printed decorative glass industry and also owned and operated a small vinyl graphics company. Randy earned an Associates Degree in Business Administration from Southeastern Community College and a Vocational Diploma in Commercial Art from Fayettville Technical Institute, both in North Carolina. Randy currently resides with his wife and daughter in High Point, NC.
